When the client inherited a Palm Beach apartment in a 1970s oceanfront condo, it needed a simpler layout and updated features. The extensive renovation involved removing several walls to create an airy, open floorplan that maximizes the stunning ocean views. Three of the kitchen’s four walls were taken down, and a folding wall was added between the living room and primary bedroom to offer flexibility between openness and privacy. This design allows for an uninterrupted ocean view across the entire width of the apartment.
The calming atmosphere is enhanced by rich materials in a muted color scheme: gallery-white walls contrast with gray cork floors in the living room and bedroom, white-stained wood in the kitchen, and limestone in the bathrooms. Every major room was reoriented to face the ocean, and a new window was added in the primary bathroom to capture another glimpse of the water.
As an art consultant, the client planned to add several new artworks, which played a key role in the design process. Three striking pieces were installed in the main living area: a large ceramic wall relief by Brie Ruais, a wood and plaster sculpture by David Amado, and a painting by Louise Fishman positioned above the server. The apartment’s white and gray furnishings were chosen to complement the minimalist backdrop, with vibrant pops of color scattered throughout.
